FAQ
What is a Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Curriculum?
A social-emotional learning curriculum is a set of lessons, practices, and activities designed to help children:
Understand and manage their emotions
Build positive relationships
Make responsible decisions
Show empathy and compassion
Develop self-awareness and confidence
These programs are often used in schools, aftercare programs, or at home to support whole-child development, heart, mind, and behavior.
How is Dear Little Child different from other SEL programs?
Unlike many SEL programs that begin with behavior or skill-building, Dear Little Child begins at the root, mindfulness.
Mindfulness is the practice of becoming aware, and awareness is the foundation of all emotional and social development.
Before we can teach emotional literacy or foster social intelligence, we must guide children to slow down, notice their thoughts, feel their feelings, and become present with themselves.
From this starting point of awareness, emotional literacy can blossom teaching children to name, understand, and express their emotions.
Only then can social intelligence truly grow where empathy, compassion, and healthy relationships take root.
This is why Dear Little Child doesn’t just teach skills, it nurtures the soil of the heart and mind, where every social and emotional seed can grow with intention and care.
